HR & VHR Clutch Kits

Our final release of our 350Z (07-08 HR), 370Z\G37 clutch kits are now officially available.  Our first iteration involved upgrading the factory CSC.  This time we incorporated the use of a Tilton racing slave.  To achieve the proper release and ensure maximum clutch life the height of the flywheel and clutch pressure plates have been shortened.  In doing so we have saved even more weight from our original version.

Max Street Kit shown installed on a NA VHR.  You can see the two orangish stripes on the pressure plate and flywheel (balancing mark).  We take the time to balance our assemblies for even more engine smoothness.

Our CSC (internal slave) bolts right in with no need for any modifications to the transmission front cover.  All it takes is bolting up our adapter plate and your done.  SS lines are included for a complete install.  We are offering our Max Street, Max 6-Puck, and High 5 clutches.  Kits include the segmented aluminum flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, racing CSC, pilot bushing, SS lines, and associated hardware.

48 lbs for the factory setup.

31 lbs for a total of 17 lbs saved!

Our segmented flywheel bolted to the engine.

NISMO Z33 HR

Awhile back a 2008 Nismo 350Z came by for some tuning tweaks.

The final results.

2006 G35 AT Tune

This one’s from awhile back but it shows some nice gains on a “bolt on” VQ35DE.

Blue was the baseline run (before) and green is tuned (after).

Turbonetics G

Edin’s G35 came to us with many issues left by another shop.  The car was in no shape to be driven down the street when we got it.  The Turbonetics single turbo kit (now Treadstone) was missing many parts and had lots wrong done to it.  Thankfully all is fixed now and Edin now only has to upgrade his exhaust system to maximize his setup and make more power.

With an upgrade to the exhaust (currently all it has is a single 2.5″ outlet!), Edin should easily see a 30+ whp gain.

Momentum Performance Turbo Kits for the 350Z & G35!

Momentum came to us with their new single turbo kit out for the 350Z & G35.  We looked at the kit, its design and the components used and its hard to beat it!  High quality parts, great instructions, completeness make for a simple and stress free installation.  Along with reliability, power, and fun to the end user.  Although it looks like a similar kit that came out years ago (that’s where the similarities end), Momentum stepped up the game using larger turbo inlet and outlet piping.  A larger 3″ downpipe is used for better efficiency of the system.  That’s the name of the game when turbocharging, improving efficiency, not more boost to make power (to a certain degree).  Aside from just making a turbo kit, Momentum also offers headers & catback systems to compliment the turbo kit

At the heart of the kit is a Garrett GT35R fed exhaust gases by a Tial SS Cast V-Band Turbine Housing.  Use of this housing allows for a quicker spool by getting more heat (energy) to the turbine wheel versus a standard cast housing.  Excess exhaust energy is released by the use of a Tial MV-R wastegate and compressor source combated by a Tial Q BOV (MAF is blow-thru for no over-rich conditions).

Peek a boo!  GT35R utilizing the Tial V-Band Turbine Housing,  Also pictured is the Tial BOV.

Quality is also the name of the game, beautifully welded piping and exhaust show that its not just about making power but having an overall complete package.  The kit is available as a complete package with fueling (Walbro Fuel Pump & DW 600cc Injectors) and ECU (UpRev Flash) included along with colder spark plugs (6 heat range).  The tuner kit will not include fuel or tuning for those who already have this side of things addressed.  The standard options include polished piping and exhaust or for a little more you can opt to have texture black or gray piping and even have the exhaust ceramic coated.

Texture Black Piping shown above

Just plain sexy.  This kit will produce up to 600whp for those with built VQDEs and a safe 400whp on stock engines.

Nitrous’d Z33

Alex came back to us for some nitrous loving.  Alex has been taking his Z to the Mojave Mile for some blasts down the strip.

Running a 80HP shot we saw some nice gains, especially for a Z with mild bolt ons.  We tuned a map for him just for nitrous use and 100 octane fuel.

Almost 100 torque gained at 4500RPMs.  When done right and in controlled situations nitrous works great.  Blue run is his standard 91 octane tune.  You can see the nitrous is set to come on at 3600 RPMs and shut off at 6500 RPMs.

Procharged Widebody Z33

Jesse’s mean looking Z has spent tremendous amount of time at the beauty shop but this Z also packs some heat under the hood.  After getting it back from the body shop Jesse brought it over to us to make sure his Z was “healthy” enough for some boost.  This Z sports ATI’s Pro-Charger air-cooled centrifugal supercharger.  It came to us with a UTEC piggyback EMS and we did a baseline pull to see where it baselined.  Z is still running a stock longblock with larger injectors and Walbro pump.

You can see his blue baseline run was way too lean the way it came in.  We yanked the UTEC out, performed a voodoo ritual & tune up (spark plugs, fluids, etc..), and lovingly tuned this Z.  We ended up with a much safer tune and more power & torque throughout the entire powerband (red run).

Z33 Vortech Tune….Ditched the UTEC

Last year we had a Z33 with a Vortech SC come in for some baseline dyno runs to asses it’s running condition.  Our customer bought it already equipped with the blower and tuning.  We were amazed (OK, not so much anymore) how bad the tune was.  First of all the map the car was running off the piggyback UTEC wasn’t even the right one.  We put it on the “right” map and did another pull.  Results shown below.

So the blue run was the way the customer had been driving the Z around.  After locating the Utec we set it on the “right” map and made another pull shown in green.  Needless to say it was horribly off on either setting.  We started by ditching the piggyback Utec in favor of our beloved Uprev.  This Z had larger injectors and fuel pump which I had to figure out exactly what he had since the owner had no clue.  He bought the car from a sand lot used car dealer with all mods installed.

Here’s the before and after.  Red was on the Utec “tuned” map and blue is what we ended up with after we tuned it using Uprev.  Safer and more power.  290 whp before & 323 whp after.

Revenge of the Boost

Late last year Aimen came in with his G35 for some NA tuning action.  Needless to say with his NA mods untuned the car was running like complete crap.  Happy camper after the tune…..until the whooosh called.  Fast forward to last week Aimen came in with a custom SPA Turbo Kit.  From what I know about it, the turbo is made by SPA from Brazil.  Very interesting to see something non Garrett or Mitsu.  We’ll see how long it hangs on.  Besides the turbo kit he had the Blox 5\8″ spacer, ported & polished plenums, DC Headers which make their way to the SPA turbo, 3″ single Apex’i Catback, UR UD Pulley, JWT Clutch\Flywheel, and grounding kit.  I was pretty surprised how well it worked.  I think Aimen was too!

Mimicking the Turbonetics kit.

Whoooooosh!!!

The beauty that is boost, this was Aimen’s G before boost (blue) and Aimen’s G after the gift of boost (red).  Almost  100 whp and over 110 torque to the tires.  All this on 6 PSI.  Time for a boost controller!

This graph is showing the difference between Aimen’s Turbo G35 vs. a G35 boosted by a Vortech SC.  The power that is TURBO.

Berry’s Beautiful G

Chris Berry has one beautiful G.  He’s brought it in several times for dynoing and AT valve body upgrade.  It has a plethora of mods including a Vortech SC and Cosworth Intake Manifold.

Clean enough to eat off but why make it dirty doing so?
