{"id":572,"date":"2010-09-20T10:50:53","date_gmt":"2010-09-20T17:50:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/specialtyz.com\/blog\/?p=572"},"modified":"2013-09-15T15:00:06","modified_gmt":"2013-09-15T22:00:06","slug":"antonios-project-fresh-z32","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.specialtyz.com\/?p=572","title":{"rendered":"Antonio&#8217;s Project &#8220;Fresh Z32&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Antonio&#8217;s been a customer of ours for almost 10 years.\u00a0 He purchased his Z from our parts manager at Nissan a long time ago.\u00a0 Through the years he did some small upgrades and as its mileage climbed and the fact it was an early 1990 model (valve issues) developed low compression.\u00a0 To add insult to injury, his wife wrecked it slamming into and up a curb.\u00a0 The accident took place sometime around 2003 and he saved the cash to fix it all.\u00a0 His baby was in a real bad place.\u00a0 Antonio was determined to fix the chassis first.\u00a0 The accident took place sometime around 2003 and he saved the cash to fix it all.\u00a0 The frame shop ended up replacing the sub-frame along with a plethora of other things.\u00a0 Once the body was &#8220;fixed&#8221;, it sat for a few more years before Antonio could save up more cash to dedicate to the engine.\u00a0 Late 2009 came by and it was time to fix his ailing Z.\u00a0 Antonio wanted something that was very reliable and make good power.\u00a0 Nothing too extreme.\u00a0 We sourced a brand new Nissan long-block as the heart and soul.\u00a0 These are now non existent as far as I&#8217;m aware.\u00a0 Sport 700s, MSP Manifolds, larger I\\C piping, Ash Massives, Z1 T.B.s, full SZ 3&#8243; exhaust, 740cc injectors &amp; 300Degree Rails, Selin Dual POP Kit, SZ Oil Pan, and RPS Twin Billet Carbon Clutch round up the majority of the\u00a0 mods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/specialtyz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/antonio1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-575\" title=\"Antonio's Engine Bay\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/specialtyz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/antonio1.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.specialtyz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/antonio1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/blog.specialtyz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/antonio1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>To the untrained eye it all looks stock.<\/p>\n<p>After getting the car all back to together and restored we found there were still gremlins plaguing the chassis and driveline.\u00a0 There was still much ado with the suspension.\u00a0 Since the car was hit in the front and rear it ruined the front wheel bearings and also the rear.\u00a0 The RR axle was also damaged and needed replacing.\u00a0 Those have since been replaced.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t until corner weighted it that we found just how bad everything was.\u00a0 We found that the LR corner was seriously underweight while a majority of the weight was on the LF.\u00a0 Ride height was seriously off.\u00a0 For this we looked to Powertrix and installed a set of their Sport Street Coilovers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/specialtyz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Super_Street_Coilovers_lg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-574\" title=\"Powertrix Super Street Coilovers\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/specialtyz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Super_Street_Coilovers_lg.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.specialtyz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Super_Street_Coilovers_lg.jpg 640w, https:\/\/blog.specialtyz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Super_Street_Coilovers_lg-300x101.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While playing with the front suspension more we also found that the front Stillen anti-swaybar was under extreme pressure.\u00a0 This is not good for handling, ride height and the bar needs to not have any preload on it.\u00a0 Having this off was throwing off the weight and ride height.\u00a0 Not correcting this issue would have us going round in circles.\u00a0 To accomplish this we used high quality SPL End-Links featuring the use of heavy duty 1\\2&#8243; bearings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/specialtyz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SPL_RE_Z33_1_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-577\" title=\"SPL End Links\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/specialtyz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SPL_RE_Z33_1_0.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.specialtyz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SPL_RE_Z33_1_0.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blog.specialtyz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SPL_RE_Z33_1_0-300x267.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While one end of the anti-swaybar is tightened down you need to drop the car down on its own weight and attach the other side with no preload.\u00a0 The other side that is already tightened may need adjusting for the &#8220;loose&#8221; side to attach.\u00a0 Finally with these parts installed we were able to properly corner weight the car to have an almost 50\\50 weight distribution (51\\49).\u00a0 One more wheel bearing seems to plague this Z so we should have it riding smooth and noise free down the road.\u00a0 With a little more time &amp;
